FisherPoets Gathering 2013       February 22-24

Picture
It's history, now!  Thanks for coming.

We saw old friends, made new ones, enjoyed writing workshops, studied ocean acidification, resisted Pebble Mine, sang along with some and listened rapt to others, said "farewell" to Smitty, gave the poetry contest a try and danced way past midnight.

If you missed it, we'll see you in Astoria next year!  Like always,  the last full weekend of February.

Thanks to Clatsop Community College, KMUN, the Daily Astorian, our venues, our supporters, our silent auction donors, our volunteers, our fisherpoet fans, our fine neighbors in Astoria, Oregon and all of the fisherpoets who joined us.

The Daily Astorian produced a short video on the weekend, too.

Here Fishin’ is Complicated
The boat rocks to the heartbeat of the relentless sea,
Its pulse pushing and shoving little old me.
Haul in the nets and count up the catch.
‘Better hope it’s a fairly good batch
Dripping with water from the deep and blue.
It’s in my bones, let alone my shoe!
Throw the nets,
Place your bets.
Will it be a good haul or not?
The sea decides, the one I’ve fought.
But never become aggravated,
For fishing is complicated.
