the pandemic edition Catch 'em all, for free.
While we're waiting for the pandemic tide to change we've plenty to enjoy during this year's virtual FisherPoets Gathering. Everyone's welcome to join us for a truly singular occasion to catch everyone perform for a change.
But that's not nearly all.
Thursday, Friday and Saturday Evening Readings will feature two 90-minute shows of fifteen or so fisherpoets keeping it short and sweet, a parade of five-minute performances, original song, story and poetry from the commercial fishing industry. A thirty-minute break will separate shows.
Follow on-line as we stream live.
Thursday, February 25
Friday, February 26
Saturday, February 27
Saturday's Special Events include on-line workshops for songwriters with John Palmes, poets with Sierra Golden and those who care about the oceans with Brad Warren.
If you're here early, Wednesday morning at 8 a.m. PST join Katrina Porteous for her presentation "The Sea's the Boss" on the poetry imbedded in the language of Northumbria's traditional fishing culture. You'll be, virtually, at the University of Leeds's Centre for Endangered Cultures, Languages and Ecosystems. Imagine.
At your leisure this weekend, you can watch a pair of truly engaging and pertinent documentary films - Bristol Bay Remembers: the Great Flu of 1919 and Last Man Fishing - as well as pre-recorded performances by fisherpoets and filmmakers at our Films and Further Performances page.
Our Visual Arts page hosts striking work and links to exhibits by fisherpoet/artists George Wilson, Duncan Berry, Toby Sullivan, Niel Pfundt and Catie Bursch.
Here's a list of fisherpoets who'll join us live from their kitchens and their galleys, their patios and, parked outside the public library, their front seats.
