         Fisherpoet Dave Densmore invites you to coffee aboard his boat Cold Stream, moored at the 39th St pier.  Enjoy a self-guided tour of the old Hanthorn Cannery while you’re there, the oldest cannery building still standing on the Columbia River.

          “Voices from the Tidelands”: A glimpse into the experience of geoduck farming in South Puget Sound through photographs and stories of several growers.
          Silent Auction items on display.
          Fisherpoets’ CDs, books, chapbooks, art work on sale.

2:00 to 4:00 p.m. at Astoria American Legion Post 12
          “Remembering the Salvage Chief”: Photos, history and crew members’ stories about this legendary local working vessel, with Don and Dave Floyd, a Legion event open to all.

3:00 to 5:00 p.m. at the Columbian Theater
          “Commercial Fishing Film Festival 2014”:  The greatest moments of commercial fishing through the best of user-generated content, the finest of videography and raw adventure.  With Dave Clark.

4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Imogen Gallery
          “The Sea Provides” An exhibition by professional artist/fishermen Corey Arnold and Martin Machado.  Artist reception.

          “Red Sky at Morning”: Climate Change, the Oceanic Crisis and Ethics.  How we the people respond  to threats to oceanic ecosystems will make all the difference in the world.  With activist author Kathleen Dean Moore, philosophy professor, Oregon State University.
           “Exactly right or horribly wrong?”: Learn common bowlines, hitches and splices.  It’s simple to be useful around a boat. With Dano Quinn and Jon Broderick.  Beginners welcome.

9:30 to 10:45 a.m. at the Barbey Maritime Center 
           “How to Write a Poem in 4D”: A practical writing workshop with fisherpoet Sierra Golden, winner of North Carolina State University’s 2012 American Poets Prize, using diction, details, description and direction to craft poetry about work.

          “Caring for the Columbia”:  Addressing threats to the health of the Columbia River, upbeat and lively, with Columbia Riverkeeper’s Brett VandenHeuvel and Alexa Wiley.
          "The Didliest Catch”: A songwriting workshop, exploring new ways of using music in our lives, with Alaskan folk musician and fisherpoet John Palmes.
